I had the best weekend of all time! It was amazing. Saturday I went to the Bayou City Art Festival and the artwork was amazing. It was all so inspiring. Unfortunately, I only talked to two artists, but both of them were very helpful.
I met Kate Barrare, who is a really nice painter. She showed me a new another way that I could use the realism of a photograph, but colorize it using paint. 'twas very cool. Her art work was sooo great. She was really nice too, if only I lived in New Mexico I would be able to intern for her(yes, I asked her about LOL)!!
Most importantly I met the AMAZING Michael Babyak(http://www.babyakart.com), who is also a painter. I had this nice conversation(or rather I was given the honor of listening to him) with him about art and how it is something that is from the heart that should not be allowed to be compromised by anyone. It's a gift, as he's helped me realize, a gift that we have an obligation to share with the world. I really enjoyed the conversation and I was so touched by how beautiful his artwork was that I bought one of his limited edition prints. It's gorgeous, so everytime I walk in my room I'm reminded of how lucky I was to meet him. He was extremely nice and helpful. I learned what giclee prints are! I had no idea such a thing existed. Oh, also, he is nice enough to let me send him some of my artwork so that I could get his critique and help with it. He offered also to give me a recommendation to an art school if I needed it. He also said I could call him or email him anytime if I had a question for him. I will definitely be taking him up on the offers. ^__^ I bought one of his prints too, I will be photographing and posting the picture later. I'm still shell shocked ~weeeeee
Sunday, unfortunately I wasn't able to go back to the Art festival. Instead I started a new painting, it's a landscape-ish picture, oddly enough. I've never done a picture like that before, but while at the park I took a picture of the trees, which were lovely, so I decided to paint them. I'm using acrylic and watercolors for the basic stuff, and I will use some oil paint as well as other things(leaves, twigs, etc). Yes, another mixed media. It's my third...or, er...fourth, including the other picture I started, since Evelyn.
I'm so...bewildered now. It amazes me how life changes, turns from one direction to the next. I'm taken aback. I'm in love with everything. I'm content.
